It's easy being "green" in Cumberland Valley!

1. Re-Use - Instead of buying new items, why not reuse? Antique and consignment shops and book shops all offer great, gently used merchandise, often at a steal!  Also browse our Shop Green section.

2. Buy Local Art - Many of the art galleries in Cumberland Valley offer artistic works created by local artists. Buying local reduces the work's carbon footprint by being produced by hand instead of in a factory and being transported a lesser distance to the gallery, and supports the local economy. Even better yet, you'll be taking home a one-of-a-kind!

3. Explore the Outdoors - Fishing, hunting, hiking & biking, horseback riding, bird watching and non-motorized boating are all eco-friendly ways to spend an afternoon. Why not visit our community and state parks and spend your day getting in touch with nature. The best part? It's free!

4. Use Mass Transportation - If your point A to B is outside of a walking or biking distance, why not try taking the bus or train? Sharing a ride is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint.

5. Buy Fresh Buy Local - Why buy goods at the supermarket when fresh, local produce, meats, dairy products and plants are available throughout the county?  You can find even more local markets at the Buy Fresh Buy Local website.

6. Made in Cumberland Valley - The Valley boasts an impressive array of unique, hand-crafted products made right here in Cumberland Valley.

7. Eat Green - Visit one of our green eateries. Whether they use organic or local ingredients, they all boast a better-for-you, better-for-the-environment attitude.

8. Sleep Green - Next time you stay in the Valley, rest your head in an environmentally friendly atmosphere.
