The brick farmhouse which is home to Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast was built between 1800 & 1810 by Gen. John Miller. Over the 200 year history of the house, it has served as a stop on the underground railroad, as a dairy farm, and as as a horse breeding facility.
The family room, a common area of the B&B, is located in what was once the summer kitchen. It was under this wood floor that runaway slaves hid while trying to escape to freedom. The Christian Hoffer family, who owned the house in the 1860's, were sympathetic to the cause of freedom.
